Mission

As keepers of the land (askiwi pimwatsiwin/ ke’maa), we ensure that our inherent aboriginal and treaty rights are understood, honoured, protected, and exercised in accordance with our traditions and practices.

Core Services & Responsibilities

Review/Respond to applications (forestry, MIRR, FLNRO, Oil and Gas, mining, wind, water, private land, agriculture)
Mitigation/follow up of applications (forestry, MIRR, FLNRO, Oil and Gas, mining, wind, water, private land, agriculture)
Treaty Land Entitlement
Assess the cultural health on the land
Protect and/or mitigate any threats to WMFNs culture and rights on the land
Protect WMFNs treaty rights as it relates to the lands office

Environmental Assessments
Caribou protection/maternal pen
Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program participation
Hunting/trapping/fishing issues/applications
Reclamation/remediation/restoration
First Nations Independent Tech review SITE C.
Cumulative effects
Studies to support various projects, agreements and internal initiatives

Cultural and Spiritual
