About the Beaver Language Revitalization Initiative (BLRI)
The BLRI is designed to create a foundation for the re-establishment of the first language of Dunne - Za people who live in and around West Moberly Lake in NEBC. Once a dominant language in the Treat 8 region, today, less than 150 fluent Beaver language speakers remain.
Job Description
To train selected members of the West Moberly First Nations community how to develop and deliver cloud hosted, CEFR compliant, language curriculum.
Primary Roles
1. To train 4-8 individuals in cloud hosted curriculum development for the first four to six months of the contract.
2. To support, assist and guide development of an A1 level adult CEFR compliant course for the Beaver language in the remainder of the year and, if the opportunity presents itself, begin development of an A2 level adult CEFR compliant course.
Core Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver training 5 days per week, 4 hours per day. As breaks will be necessary during the daily instruction period, an actual teaching time of 3.5 hours per day is required.
2. Train and support the selected individuals how to create cloud hosted curriculum in an effective, supportive and culturally sensitive manner. This is very likely to include discussions with the course instructor, Chief and Council and community Elders.
3. Include instruction on how to include the use of google docs and other media content that may be required in the curriculum
4. Train the course instructor how to employ flipped classroom pedagogy and use the curriculum developed by the team.
Duration: November 03, 2025, to October 30, 2026
Reporting: Position reports to the Project Manager or designate
Time Allocation: 20 hours per week
Renumeration: $45,000 per annum. $3,750 paid monthly
Location Online – but an all expense paid trip to meet the team will be arranged before training begins. This will include staying for a few days to facilitate in-person training and get the program firmly established.
