About the Role

Are you enthusiastic about contributing to local organizations, collaborating with Indigenous governance, and delivering meaningful services? As a bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, including tracking income, expenses, and payments to support the West Moberly First Nation (WMFN) businesses. This position also involves financial reporting and reconciling bank statements to ensure the financial health of WMFN companies by meticulously managing financial transactions and records.

This is a full-time hybrid position requiring the successful candidate to be located at the lake, in Chetwynd or Hudson Hope areas. This position is scheduled for 35 hours per week and has an hourly/annual wage between $60,000-$72,000. In addition, there is a robust RRSP program, a comprehensive benefits package, and, if needed, a relocation package. Key Responsibilities
• Maintain financial records including invoices, receipts, and bank statements, ensuring they are easily accessible and well-maintained.
• Preparing financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and multiple credit card reconciliations.
• Reconciling bank statements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
• Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable: Prepare clients’ invoices in accordance with contractual agreements, prepare detailed activity reports to support client invoicing.
• Assist with the year-end financial reporting process and support tax preparation.
• Assist with processing Payroll for WMFN businesses.
• Verify spending authority and ensure compliance with WMFN policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Competencies and Skills

Your toolkit includes

• Completion of a Business Administration degree or diploma or designation in accounting (or equivalent).
• Relevant bookkeeping work experience, with a minimum 5 years’ experience is preferred.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software, preferably with QuickBooks, and strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven experience in integrity, accountability, attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Bondable: qualifies for a surety bond, which protects against financial losses resulting from individual actions.
• Comply to criminal record check, (vulnerable sector).
