Gathering & Hunting Committees

OVERVIEW
WMFN Lands Department approached council and was approved to start 2 types of committees; one will focus on activities around hunting and the second around gathering. Four committees will be created in total. Two committees will formed at Moberly Lake and the other two, would be created in Prince George. The purpose of these committees is to understand changes/concerns that are happening on the land, collect input from members regarding various studies, industry/government initiatives, and provide information regarding ongoing lands projects.
COMMITTEE
These committees will likely be held once a month in WMFN, and every two months in Prince George, with the goal of having them every month by the end of the year. We hope to have the committee meetings right after work(e.g., 5:30pm to 7:00 pm) so as not to impact people’s evenings.
As mentioned above, one committee would be focused on hunting, trapping, and fishing, while the other would be concentrating on gathering berries, herbs, medicines, etc. If you are someone who does both regularly, you are welcome to attend both meetings.
The lands office would like to start the meetings in WMFN asap and will be looking for dates/places in Prince George for late May.

Gatherer Committee April 26, 2023 5:30-7pm Council Building lower level.
