About the position
West Moberly First Nations’ Historical Society (WMFN HS) is looking for technically skilled candidates with good problem-solving ability for the position of an Information and Data Technician. The duties of an ID technician include being a reference point for all ID related queries at the user level, responding to user needs in a timely manner and ensuring the optimal running of all systems, creating and maintaining databases, among other technical duties.
ID technicians are expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels. They are required to listen to their technical needs, understand their problems, and implement solutions to them.

Responsibilities:
Comply with submission of:

    • Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sectors.
    • Current driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.
    • Oath of Confidentiality; and
  • Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Ensuring electrical safety standards are met.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
  • Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers.
  • Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
  • Performing tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
  • Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.
  • Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.
  • Conducting daily backup operations.
  • Managing technical documentation.
  • Creating and maintaining databases.
  • Creating and maintaining information systems.

Requirements

The Successful Candidate
The successful receptionist will have experience multi-tasking and keeping a busy reception area organized and efficient. They will preferably have experience working in a First Nations community with knowledge of cultural practices.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance. minimum
  • A+, Linux+, or Cisco Certified Network Associate accreditation advantageous.
  • Willing to train
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in database programming and software installation.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Website building experience
  • Previous experience working with First Nations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • College degree or equivalent
  • Office management experience
  • Experience managing budgets and expenses
  • Experience developing internal processes and filing systems
  • Comfortable handling confidential information
  • Ability to multitask

Part time with a minimum of 4 hours per day and could vary day to day. This is a 1-year contract position.

Wage Range: $30.00/hr
