The West Moberly First Nations is located a 35 minutes drive/40 kms northwest of Chetwynd, BC, at the west end of Moberly Lake. The area is surrounded by the lake and rivers, trees and mountains. About the position

We are looking for an individual to work with the Eco Operator, with an outstanding work ethic and a safety-first attitude to join our team full-time. The position is responsible for collecting residential and commercial solid wastes, including recycling, garbage, and organics. The collection and disposal of solid waste materials is routine manual work involving sharp detail and good hand-eye coordination in all weather conditions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete the vehicle inspection checklist.
• Assist Eco Operator, segregating waste, recycling and composting.
• Be present in the vehicle at designated start time on daily, weekly or monthly pick-up days.
• Attend regular tail-gate meetings with the supervisor.
• Follow all safety rules and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

• Follow the scheduled route and pick up from each community member household (separate residential and non-residential collection, unless otherwise specified).
• Always treat all members and community members with a respectful and courteous manner.
• Sort items that are picked up into appropriate containers. Check for contamination or prohibited waste and dispose appropriately (or leave prohibited waste in the household recycling container with a note).
• Note down instances of contamination and follow up with household for education if possible; otherwise leave “oops” stickers noting instances of contamination in detail and attach it to the household recycling container.
• Transport collected items to the designated transfer station or depot and unload collected items, and exchange for empty containers. (If containers belong to the community, make sure they are labelled with community identifier).

• Crew lead to fill out the weekly or monthly drop-off report as applicable after each drop-off of collected items, and hand to the transfer station/depot operator after the report is initialed by both parties.

Requirements

The Successful Candidate

Your toolkit will bring:

• Self motivation with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Co-ordinating, assembling and delivering recycling and composting equipment and guides to each household.
• Develops and implements special communications and education projects such as contests and awareness programs for Compost Awareness Week, Waste Reduction Week, Earth Day, etc.
• Develops and conducts information sessions and/or facility tours for special audiences as needed.

Education and Work Experience:

No experience needed but preferred, training will be provided

Other:
• Possess Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
• Comply to Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector.

Full time employment, 70 hours every 2 weeks, Monday to Friday (every second Friday off), along with a comprehensive salary, RRSP program and benefits package. For the right candidate this will be 25hr .
