About the Role

Are you passionate about preserving and promoting the language, culture, heritage, and wellness of West Moberly First Nations? Join our team as a Family Representative, where you will play a key role in fostering cultural connections, supporting traditional practices, and building impactful programs and services. As part of a dynamic committee of four Family Representatives, you’ll work closely with Elders, community members, and various West Moberly First Nations departments to celebrate and revitalize the vibrant traditions of the Nation. This is more than a role, it’s an opportunity to honor the past, enrich the present, and inspire the future.

This is a full-time in-person position requiring the successful candidate to be located at the lake, in Chetwynd or Hudson Hope areas. This position has an hourly wage between $31-37. In addition, there is a robust RRSP program, a comprehensive benefits package, and, if needed, a relocation package. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Heritage, Culture, Language & Wellness:

  • Plan and implement cultural initiatives, including those related to Four Pillars funding and the Comprehensive Community Plan.
  • Use technology to document and share materials on West Moberly First Nations languages, cultures, and wellness.
  • Collaborate with West Moberly First Nations departments to integrate cultural traditions and develop policies ensuring Indigenous data sovereignty.

Traditional Practices & Programs

  • Develop and deliver opportunities for West Moberly First Nations Members to engage in traditional and cultural practices.

Programs & Services

  • Facilitate and administer cultural programs to revitalize language, heritage, and wellness.
  • Coordinate Elders and Youth meetings and partner with other West Moberly First Nations departments to deliver impactful programs.
  • Secure additional funding and oversee related program implementation and reporting.

Administration

  • Create and promote event calendars and increase awareness of programs and services among Family Groups.
  • Collect community feedback to improve service delivery and provide regular reports to Council and community members.

Your toolkit includes

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of administrative experience.
  • Experience working with Indigenous leadership and communities.
  • Understanding of traditions of elders and teachers within your Family Group or demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of First Nations Community genealogy, traditions, culture and history.
  • Traditional and cultural education and training from elders/spiritual leaders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through a diplomatic and trauma-informed approach.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid driver’s license, preferable class 4.
  • First aid level 1 (with CPR), Hep B shot, and flu vaccine.
  • Ability to speak Cree or Dunne-za is considered an asset.
