About the Role

Are you passionate about contributing to local organizations, working with Indigenous governance, and delivering impactful services? As the Payroll and Accounting Clerk you will be assisting the West Moberly First Nation (WMFN), in processing and administering payroll along with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other WMFN Finances.

You will also support the Finance Manager with inquiries from vendors, contractors, governments and other agencies and/or businesses pertaining to outstanding accounts and related financial matters.

This is a full-time in-person position requiring the successful candidate to be located at the lake, in Chetwynd or Hudson Hope areas. This position is scheduled for 35 hours per week and has an hourly/annual wage between $55,000-$70,000. In addition, there is a robust RRSP program, a comprehensive benefits package, and, if needed, a relocation package. Key Responsibilities

Payroll – Primary Administrator:
• Set up new employees in payroll and benefits program
• Act as the key contact for staff inquiries.
• Process payroll and administer benefits program
• Maintain employee filing system, ensuring Personal Information Privacy Act guidelines are followed.

Accounts Receivable:
• Set up customer information, prepare payment of invoices, enter and mail invoices.
• Respond to customer inquiries, research and investigate errors or problems and initiate credit memos.
• Prepare monthly reports on income and estimate anticipated uncollectible debts for Finance Manager

Accounts Payable:
• Verify spending authority and ensure compliance with WMFN policies.
• Process invoices in accordance with financial policies and procedures.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Respond to inquiries from vendors and government contractors pertaining to outstanding accounts and other related matters.

Administrative and Financial Support
• Explain finance policies and procedures upon request.
• Prepare invoices and contract commitments for fiscal year end.
• Provide recommendations to enhance efficiencies.

Travel Administration
• Receive and code travel expenses.
• Verify all travel requests are completed according to policy.
• Submit completed travel reimbursement as required.

Other Duties
• Assume responsibility of finance department in the absence of the Finance Manager.
• Maintain capital asset documentation.
• Help develop and/or maintain a tracking system for all department budgets.

Requirements

Your toolkit includes

• Post-secondary education or formal training in accounting.
• Two+ years of payroll and accounting experience, with basic record keeping and bookkeeping/accounting procedures.
• Similar experience providing clear information to internal and external customers.
• Experience working with QuickBooks.
• Intermediate skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), related databases and Internet.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
• Clear and concise phone manner and communication style both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
• Comply to Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector and may be subject to Drug and Alcohol testing.
