The Successful Candidate

• Self motivation with strong interpersonal skills and confidence with the ability to speak to and report back to members, Chief and Council.
• A positive outlook on work and life balance and can put a plan together that ensures objectives are met.
• Knowledge of WMFN traditions, hunting, fishing and trapping practices.
• Able to provide a clean criminal record.

Education and Work Experience:

• Post-secondary education or formal training in Biology, Ecology, First Nations Studies, and Land Agreements – would be an asset.
• 1 years’ administrative processes and legislative understanding within a first nations community preferred.
• 2 years’ experience working within a First Nations community preferred.
• Understanding of interpreting and applying natural resource management as per First Nations culture and western science.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of key issues, legislation, policies and procedures related to first nations administration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and administer financial documents.
• Strong team leadership and management skills including ability to establish good working relationships, both internally and with external stakeholders and to mitigate and manage conflict using sound judgement.
• Ability to confidentially speak to community members, partners and Chief and Council to make them aware of partnership agreements.
• Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
• Intermediate skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), related databases and Internet.
