About the position
The Information Systems & Programs Manager is responsible for building and maintaining the information system architecture for West Moberly First Nations (WMFN). This role will be the Project Manager developing long lasting information systems implementation for the Nations’ history and ongoing development of programs being offered within the Nation.

General Duties

  • Provide technical support to all staff and Council, both in-person and remote.
  • Document user technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Document staff technology training needs.
  • Provide one-on-one technical training to all staff and Council.
  • Assist all departments with technology projects.
  • Supervise Communications Officer
  • Act as Communications Officer after-hours and during regular Communications Officer leave.
  • Develop SOP’s and templates as needed

IS&P Department Management

  • Create and manage IS&P department budget.
  • Manage technology portions of all department budgets.
  • Apply for and maintain external funding sources for IS&P projects.
  • Manage technology evergreen program.
  • Manage the Communications Officer position.
  • Create and manage future IS&P department positions.
  • Create and present project, technical, and financial reports to management, Council, and band members.

System Maintenance
Maintain, troubleshoot, and expand the following systems:

  • computer networks, including inter-building links, internet connections, and wireless systems.
  • user workstation equipment, including laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, mice, and keyboards.
  • printers, both desktop and network
  • servers
  • telephone systems
  • security camera systems
  • cloud services, including M365, Adobe Sign, Zoom, and Canva
  • Finance systems, including QuickBooks Enterprise
  • data backup systems
  • digital archive systems
  • websites
  • social media accounts and asset

Salary Range
$65,000 to $90,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.


Competencies and Skills

Education and Work Experience:

  • Post-secondary education or formal training in information systems and support or related experience.
  • At least five years’ previous IT administration experience, preferably within a First Nations environment.
  • Understanding of First Nations Governance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Clear and concise phone manner and communication style both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Working knowledge of basic record keeping and bookkeeping/accounting procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify needs and create systems to meet them.
  • Advanced skills in all systems being maintained.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
