Administrative Assistant - Summer Youth Position

The West Moberly First Nations is located 32 km Northwest of Chetwynd, BC at the west end of Moberly Lake. Lakes, Rivers, Trees, and Mountains surround West Moberly First Nations. The Administrative Assistant main duties will be aiding the Administration staff in a variety of ways both administrative and technical as well as learning new skills to assist in the day-to-day work required for the office. This position will provide work experience and training. This is a summer student program that will provide full-time employment for 8 weeks.


Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide an efficient, professional customer service approach to all visitors/callers to the office. Direct visitors/callers to appropriate staff member.
  • Review all messages (phone/email) and forward to appropriate staff member.
  • Review incoming/outgoing mail and forward as required.
  • Manage WMFN’s concession. Recording staff purchases, providing change where required.
  • Assist with coordinating and producing WMFN monthly newsletter. This will include reminder requests to WMFN departments for content. This will include preparing document, printing final document, and mailing out to WMFN members.
  • Assistance with a variety of documents when requested
  • Order office supplies as requested.
  • Information management, filing and storing of documents as requested
  • Other administrative duties as directed.

Various training opportunities (First Aid, MS Office, Clerical, etc.), working with other students/ summer workers in other departments and working with other employees within the department.

The Administrative Assistant will also assist in other WMFN events and activities as determined by West Moberly Executive Assistant or the Director of Operations.


The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Student or youth between 15-30 years old.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Self-motivation with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge, willingness to learn and understanding of First Nations communities, its members and lifestyle.
  • Training will be provided as required
